On June 26 starting at 5pm, we are going to party at the Memorial Park Bandshell.

This is going to be a huge bash that you do not want to miss!  Not only are we going to have baptisms, but we will celebrate with some great food from the grill, a bouncy castle for the kids, games for everyone, a DJ to keep the party going, and more.

Bring your friends,  family, a side dish or drinks, and be ready to have an epic time!

To help us determine how much meat to buy, please RSVP on Facebook or fill out a card at a Sunday service.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the jumpy castle, security, teardown/set-up, and food prep. Let us know if you are interested. The more help there is, the easier the night will go, and the more fun we can have!

To sign up for food and volunteer: http://tinyurl.com/3l48xvr

Finally, and most importantly, if you would like to be baptized, please email the church at projectchurch@gmail.com or fill out a connection card at our service on Sundays. Jason will share more on baptism on Sundays if you’d like to learn more.

Mark those calendars and plan to be there. It won’t be the same without you!

Profound words from author Frederick Buechner:

“When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again, you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.

For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost. When I’m feeling most ghost-like, it is your remembering me that helps remind me that I actually exist. When I’m feeling sad, it’s my consolation. When I’m feeling happy, it’s part of why I feel that way

If you forget me, one of the ways I remember who I am will be gone. If you forget, part of who I am will be gone. ”Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” the good thief said from his cross (Luke 23:42). There are perhaps no more human words in all of Scripture, no prayer we can pray so well.”

May we remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and may we celebrate and live out of his resurrection.

Who is invited into the Kingdom of God?

“The flunk-outs and drop-outs and burned-outs. The broke and the broken. The drug heads and the divorced. The HIV-positive and herpes-ridden. The brain-damaged, the incurably ill. The barren and the pregnant too-many-times or at the wrong time. The overemployed, the underemployed, the unemployed. The unemployable. The swindled, the shoved aside, the replaced. The parents with children living on the street, the children with parents not dying in the “rest” home. The lonely, the incompetent, the stupid. The emotionally starved or emotionally dead. And on and on and on.

Is it true that “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal?” It is true!…

Jesus offers to all such people as these the present blessedness of the present kingdom—regardless of circumstances…

Even the moral disasters will be received by God as they come to rely on Jesus, count on him, and make him their companion in his kingdom. Murderers and child-molesters. The brutal and the bigoted. Drug lords and pornographers. War criminals and sadists. Terrorists. The perverted and the filthy and the filthy rich…

Can’t we feel some sympathy for Jesus’ contemporaries, who huffed at him, “This man is cordial to sinners, and even eats with them!” Sometimes I feel I don’t really want the kingdom to be open to such people. But it is. That is the heart of God…

If I, as a recovering sinner myself, accept Jesus’ good news, I can go to the mass murderer and say, “You can be blessed in the kingdom of the heavens. There is forgiveness that knows no limits.” To the pederast and the perpetrator of incest. To the worshiper of Satan. To those who rob the aged and weak. To the cheat and the liar, the bloodsucker and the vengeful: Blessed! Blessed! Blessed! As they flee into the arms of The Kingdom Among Us.”

In Ethiopia, one in ten children do not live to see first birthday. Those who do are often lost among the four million children each year who are orphaned with nearly a million of them suffering from AIDS and other diseases.  With numbers so staggering, it’s difficult to grasp the severity of the situation.

One couple is seeking to change the story. Cory and Shannon Church from Project Church have begun a quest to adopt a child from Ethiopia. You can follow their journey at findingchurch.net.

Another person from Project Church, Brittany Cox, has graciously offered up her skills as a tattoo artist to help raise funds for Cory & Shannon. She is offering  three designs on the image in the post for $60 each with 60% of the proceeds going to help them bring their baby home.

If you live in the Black Hills area, you can schedule an appointment with Brittany at Lakota Ink by calling 605.343.5160 or drop by at 516 Mt. Rushmore Rd in downtown Rapid City.

Get some ink and help save a life. It doesn’t get better than that.

A Reminder from Micah 6:8:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Every journey is story and every story is a journey.

Noted author and story expert, Robert McKee, says every story must ask: “Who are these characters? What do they want? How do they go about getting it? What stops them? What are the consequences? Finding the answers to these grand questions and shaping them into story is our overwhelming creative task.”

The same is true of your life. We all have a story to live out. There’s a search to find our place in the world, there are characters we meet along the way, there are lessons learned as we go.

In this series through Exodus, we will look at the odyssey of the nation of Israel.  How they went from slavery to the cusp of freedom. This book pulls no punches as we see the many blunders and obstacles along the way, but it also holds out a greater hope–a promised land for those who press on.

As we dive into this story, we will discover how we can get from where we are to where God wants us to be.

Join the journey each Sunday morning at 10am at the historic Elks Theatre and live the life you’re meant to live!

On Monday, February 28 at 6pm, we will be handing out coats, gloves, and hats on the streets of Rapid City.

Between now and then, we are accepting donations for coats (sizes L, XL, XXL) as well as gloves and hats.  We will have a container for donations out each Sunday in the lobby at the Elks Theatre.  If you are interested in being a part of this project team, please contact Destri Fagerland at fagerlandfamily@hotmail.com.

Also, we are partnering with First United Methodist Church to make this happen. They have graciously offered childcare for that evening if needed.
