We’re excited to announce that on Sunday, September 5 at 10am (Labor Day weekend) at the Elks Theatre, we are showing the film, “Lord, Save Us From Your Followers.”

It’s a thought-provoking, humorous documentary about faith and culture in America that is sure to challenge and inspire us to be more like Jesus.  Invite your friends and join us!

Here’s a trailer.

Project Church is where change takes place.  This what we’re looking at this Sunday as we continue our “We Are” series. This is an important message for us all.  If you’re in the area, join us.  If not, you can subscribe to our podcast.

If you’d like to dive deeper into this topic, here are a handful of books that have been very useful to me in working through change in my life and have aided me in helping others in their quest to live free as well.  I hope they will help you too. All  hold a high view of the gospel and are drenched in scripture.

Prayer of Sir Francis Drake (1577):

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when
with the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wilder seas
Where storms will show Your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask you to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push back the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
This we ask in the name of our Captain,
Who is Jesus Christ.

Terrific video of a Q & A between pastor Andy Stanley and author Jim Collins on a variety of leadership topics related to the church from the Catalyst Conference.

“Are we human? Or Are we dancer?”

In their song, “Human”, the rock band, The Killers, sing this in reference to Hunter S. Thompson’s prose on humanity,”We’re raising a generation of dancers.”  People, who like robots, are programmed to just fall in line and ask no questions.

Thankfully, we’re not robots, we’re flesh and blood beings with emotions, minds, and wills. It’s how we were created.

In this message, we’re exploring Genesis 1:26-27 to discover what it means to be human, to be created in the image of God, and how to live in light of it.

This is an amazing video highlighting the Story of God from gardentothecity.com. Looks like a wonderful video project.

“Is what you’re living for worth dying for?”

Not sure who said it, but that question cuts right to the heart of the matter.

Think about it.

Pray about it.

Do something about it.

Your life matters.

A funny video for all the dad’s out there.
